February 2004

2nd: Aden loves to sit on my bed against the backrest and play with the remote control. Mama gave him indoor strolls of the house in his stroller, which he loved. Everytime I sing the opening line of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” he gives me a glorious smile. He complete adores mama, and lunges for her whenever she’s near, and is really sweet and calm with her. He loves playing with fruit – I use oranges to distract him from crying when I bring him in from the outdoors. Yesterday when we came inside, I took him to a bowl of grapes, and he was plucking grapes from the stem and throwing them back into the bowl!

Rabia says he goes to sleep every night with a remote in his hand. She says that when other kids take blankies to pre-k, he’ll probably take a remote!

12th: I miss Aden so much! They haven’t been able to come because Shoaib has a bad cold and may have given it to Humera. But I have some cute things to write down, that I jotted down in my Palm Pilot about him:
1.       Aden loves the builder who’s overseeing their new house. When he comes to visit and sits at the dining table to discuss plans, Aden repeatedly races his walker over to him and crashes it into his chair legs for attention 😂
2.       After Aden left last visit, Shoaib walked his stroller around the house, with a frame Rabia gave him which has Aden’s voice recorded into it! We are all crazy for him.
3.       Shoaib said that because Aden sits so straight now, Shob’s going to massage his back while he sits to give him “good spinal alignment.”

22nd: Last week Rabia called to say that Aden semi-crawled – what he does is more of an inchworm motion, but his knees do support him for brief spurts. After he first did it for about 20 seconds, he was so tired that he slept for 1 ½ hours afterwards! They were here for about 24 hours this weekend, and he’s so big and cute! When he’s in the mood to laugh, he laughs SO much and so cutely. Mama took Aden out last night while she was getting mail, and he was so excited – I just love his constant joy!

26th: This was our first bursee since Aden came – those big eyes have daddy’s sparkle Rabia says that when Aden’s in his walker, and she’s at the kitchen table, he waits until she moves her chair a bit and then he rushes under the table. He just sits there, staring at the plants on the other side – probably dreaming about being outside! His third tooth is coming in.
