May 12th: Shaheen threw Ilana a beautiful
Big Sister Party on May 2nd, and our lovely friends and their beautiful
children showed up to help us celebrate! In true toddler style, Ilana threw a
fit in the hour leading up to us going, first refusing to get dressed, then
screaming that she didn't want to wear a dress, then refusing to get in the
car. One problem was that up until that morning, Ilana and Aden both thought
he'd be going as well, but that morning Rabia wasn't feeling well and wanted to
get back to Columbus while she was still in good enough condition to drive :(
Ilana and Aden were inseparable - and pure chaos - during his visits to Atlanta
while we were there. They'd hold hands and run around together, chase each
other around, and generally wreak havoc. Ilana was very bossy with him, but
then would also listen to him when he told her to not do something. It was a
sweet and hectic time!
June 27th: Ilana’s so excited about Rabia and Aden coming at the time that I'm hoping to deliver, and keeps talking about the tea party she's going to have with Aden - he in turn is excited about the slumber party they'll have with Lani when I'm at the hospital!
July 11th: I was SO sure I'd have a week old
baby by now! Rabia and Aden came up on June 28th, and lingered until July 5th
hoping Inaya would make an appearance, but it wasn't going to happen :( It was
great having them here, though - Aden and Ilana had a blast, although Lani
isn't so great about sharing her things. Fortunately, Aden took it all in
stride! As soon as she woke up in the morning, she'd start saying "No,
Adee!" and "Not again, Adee!" - poor kid was constantly being
bossed around. The first few days they were here
it rained incessantly, but thankfully we had a few nice days starting on
Friday, so we took the kids to splash pads, shopping, playgrounds, and to the
beach. It was so nice having my mind off my various aches and pains for a
while, and then there was the peace of mind knowing that they would be there if
needed to watch Lani overnight. The kids loved just hanging out side by side, on the Mickey Mouse clubhouse, laying around on the couch, etc. Once we were able to get out, they had a blast, especially at the Destin Commons splash pad/play area combo! I felt so bad that Aden didn't get to see the baby before he left though - he was so disappointed :(
