Our Amazing, Wonderful, Hilarious Poloo

15th: We’re going to the beach with poloo next weekend! They came up May 3 rd , when the Jamils came to visit, and stayed until the 9 th 😊 Our angel was really fussy for the first few days because of the teething, but was a dream over the weekend. I had the day off Tuesday and went to Crescent Moon and to Stone Mountain, which Aden loved. He kept looking up and laughing at us. Angel! That evening we went to Edo’s, and we were worried Aden would get scared at the fires that are lit on the hibachi table, but he looked more irritated at them than scared, and kept looking up at Humera (he was on her lap) as though to make sure everything was alright! On Humera’s day off she stayed at home with him and let Rabia take everyone to Perimeter and then everyone went to Bombay Grill in the evening. Although Jamil Bhai and his wife were so nice, Aden wouldn’t really let them hold him, although by the end of their visit he condescended to allow them to pat his cheek without protesting 😂 Aden ...

1st: Aden’s teething, and is really fussy about it – Rabia says he won’t sleep during the day unless he’s in his stroller.  18th: Rabia was here this weekend, from Thursday to Saturday. Poloo is so cute and big, and very demanding! As soon as we pick him up, he stretches a chubby hand towards the basement door or garage door. He makes adorable sounds, and walked the whole length of the basement holding Humera’s hand. What is TOO cute is that he’ll be sitting on the bed, breaks out in a mischievous, open mouthed grin while still looking down, then tosses himself backwards on whatever’s behind him. He then sits up and repeats the process, laughing the whole time. His laugh is the most beautiful sound in the world ❤

3rd: The latest Aden recap may take a while. First of all, he looooves us 😊 He’s completely comfortable with us, as though we’re his immediate family. My lovely. I took him near mama when she was at the kitchen sink, and he went nuts trying to get her attention so she could get him near the faucet water – grabbing fistful after fistful of her kameez, in an attempt to turn her around. He also loves the round labels on bananas – he passes them from one hand to the next for hours (loves stickers just like me!)I brought him up to my room and handed him lipsticks from my vanity, which he flung to the floor one after another, giggling by the end. He giggles crazily when I real or fake cough – he thinks it’s the best game ever, and I’m such a fun khala for playing it from Day One 😂 When bringing him here, Rabia tells him where he’s going by fake coughing!He still yanks our hair, and this time was reaching around and grabbing my ponytail. He always has someone’s hair in his fingers, but ...

2nd: Aden loves to sit on my bed against the backrest and play with the remote control. Mama gave him indoor strolls of the house in his stroller, which he loved. Everytime I sing the opening line of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” he gives me a glorious smile. He complete adores mama, and lunges for her whenever she’s near, and is really sweet and calm with her. He loves playing with fruit – I use oranges to distract him from crying when I bring him in from the outdoors. Yesterday when we came inside, I took him to a bowl of grapes, and he was plucking grapes from the stem and throwing them back into the bowl! Rabia says he goes to sleep every night with a remote in his hand. She says that when other kids take blankies to pre-k, he’ll probably take a remote!  12th: I miss Aden so much! They haven’t been able to come because Shoaib has a bad cold and may have given it to Humera. But I have some cute things to write down, that I jotted down in my Palm Pilot about him: 1. ...

19th: I took Aden outside, and he practically lay horizontal in my arms to stare at the yellow grass. I sat down with him, and he crunched his fingers in it, over and over – I think he doesn’t understand why it replaces the carpet anywhere. Mama and I had to go to a mehndi, and Humera said while we were gone he spent 45 minutes cooing at the remote control in mama’s room. He plays with it until he smacks himself in the head, then he looks up, stunned, with his beautiful eyes all big and round. Aden’s no longer fascinated by my hair ☹ but is obsessed with glasses – if anyone’s wearing them, his mission of the moment is to get close enough to snatch them off, play with them for a while, then fling them aside. He also, when sitting in his megasaucer, raises bended arms level with his shoulders, and just wobbles, like he’s trying to stand on his own – it’s SO CUTE! I had gone to buy a car with Najeeb, and when I got back they started packing up to leave. I had a pounding headache. A...

9th: Today, Aden grabbed hold of a toy and he STOOD UP. He’s brilliant. And then he put the ball in the top of the toy where it goes, because he’s a genius! 20th: Aden was here last weekend, and I’m going to pick them up again on Wednesday 😊 Last weekend, they were here Friday to Sunday, and I was exhausted – he’s quite the adorable handful. He reaches his arms for us now, usually when we reach for him but, on the rare occasion, sometimes spontaneously. Usually only while in the megasaucer though. He really enjoys the megasaucer – stares at the gee-gaws on it with such concentration, as though he’s a Nobel scientist studying his experiments. I LOVE when he turns the steering wheel, because it’s such an older kid thing to do. There’s one figure on the saucer, a red-headed boy who plays nursery tunes when pushed, that Aden won’t even look at. Even when we push it to make it play music, he’ll give it a cursory glance then very decidedly turn his back on it! He now shrieks “m...

2nd: I’m going to Columbus tomorrow to babysit my sweet poloo. Shoaib kept kissing my latest framed pic of Aden. We all need Aden to stay sane! Little baby has NO idea. Rabia said he’s definitely recognizing some words, like ami, abu, baby food – starts leaning towards the high chair when he hears that! He also enjoys twirling around in his bungee, and sliding side to side. Can’t wait to see him!! 16th: Last weekend, our sweet cuddly darling was here. I picked them up on Wednesday. He’s SO CUTE that we now talk about him at least 10 times a day. Shoaib stole my framed pic of Aden for the weekend, and kept kissing and talking to it. Shoaib said at one point he’d been holding Aden and started mouthing off to Rabia, so Aden twists around and starts smacking his hands upside Shoaib’s head 😂 Humera says she was sitting with him at the computer, and he started to reach for the keyboard, so she lowered his hands onto his lap and he politely kept them there for the rest of the time.
